Set a Palworld server password

Strangers find Palworld servers quickly. Set a password, a name and a description in PalWorldSettings.ini.

Updated 11 October 2026

Palworld servers get found and joined by strangers quickly. A password is the simplest fix.

  1. Stop the server.
  2. In Files, open Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini.
  3. Set ServerPassword="yourpassword". Keep the quotes; the file won't load without them.
  4. While you're there, ServerName and ServerDescription control how it shows in the list.
  5. Save and start the server.

My change keeps going back

Some settings are also on the Startup tab, and those can overwrite the file when the server starts. If a change keeps reverting, set it on the Startup tab instead.
