What a Project Zomboid server is given

What comes with it

• Full file access through the panel and over SFTP — install mods, plugins, datapacks and configs yourself, with no curated list to wait on.
• Upload a world you already have, and pull a backup down whenever you want.
• Sub-users, so friends can use the console, restart the server and manage files without touching your account.
• Console access and resource graphs in the browser, on a standard Pterodactyl panel.
• No artificial player cap. You set the limit in the server's own configuration; what the world comfortably holds depends on your mods and what everyone is doing.

Where it runs

A homelab in the UK — enterprise hardware in a rack at home, not a VPS sliced into oblivion and not a datacentre. A Proxmox cluster with NVMe storage and 256 GB of RAM per node, on a 900/900 Mbps symmetric fibre line, running on solar.

Traffic reaches it over a tunnel from a DDoS filtering provider rather than arriving at the line directly, so an attack aimed at a game server is dropped upstream instead of taking out a household's broadband. That costs a few milliseconds of latency and is worth the trade.
