By creating an account or using any server provided by AlienX Servers, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. The short version is at the bottom.
AlienX Servers provides game server hosting as a hobby project, running on home hardware and a residential internet connection in the United Kingdom.
Registration is open. An account is created by registering on the panel with a Discord account that is a member of our Discord server and holds the Server Hosting role (section 5). There is no invitation code, no application and no waiting list. We may close, pause or limit registration at any time and without notice, and being able to read this page does not entitle anyone to an account.
The service is free. There is nothing to pay, nothing to subscribe to and no paid tier of any kind — no payment is required to create, run or keep a server, and no part of what a server is given is held back to encourage payment. We do not take money for this service, and these terms are not a contract for a paid service.
The service is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to:
Where the site describes servers as running "24/7" or "always on", that describes how the service behaves — the only reason we deliberately stop a server is the inactivity rule in section 8, and you are never asked to renew it or watch anything to keep it running — and is not a service level agreement or an uptime guarantee.
The service runs on home hardware and a residential internet connection. Your server may be restarted, suspended or taken offline at any time and without notice, including for:
We are under no obligation to give notice of, schedule around, or compensate for any of the above.
AlienX Servers and its operator(s) are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to:
You use this service entirely at your own risk. Always keep your own backups of any data you care about.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
This is a free service, and support covers one thing only: connection problems caused by our side. If your server cannot be reached because of our network, our hardware or the panel, tell us in the Help forum in the Discord and we will look into it. We decide whether a connection problem is on our side.
If we find that a connection problem is on your side, we will say so, and fixing it is up to you. That includes problems with your own internet connection, router, firewall, computer or game client, and with anyone else's who is trying to join your server.
Everything else is your responsibility, including:
Other members may choose to help each other in the Discord. That is them being generous and is not a support channel; treating it as one, or pressing people for help with anything outside the support described above, is a breach of section 7.
Hosting is offered to members of our Discord server, AlienX's Place. By using the service you agree that:
The requirement exists because accounts that were not tied to an identity were being used to host malware and proxy software, and to evade bans. Tying every account to a Discord account that has to stay in the server is what makes a ban mean something.
Rejoining the Discord does not restore a deleted server. A former member may register again in the same way as anyone else, unless their account was terminated for a serious breach under section 8, in which case we may refuse registration permanently.
The limit is per person, not per account. Each person may hold one Discord account in our Discord server, one panel account, and one server at a time, unless an exception has been agreed with us in advance (see "Larger communities and projects" below). An exception is agreed with a named person for a stated reason, and it does not turn into a second account — it is more capacity on the one account you already have.
You must not, and must not help anyone else to:
The same limit applies to what a server is for. A project gets one server, however many people are behind it. A project is any server, network, community, brand or group of servers that are run together or for the same players — and it is still one project when each server was requested by a different person.
Each of these is a second server for the same project, and is not allowed unless we have agreed an exception for that project in advance:
Saying that each server is run by a different person does not change this. We look at the project, not at whose name is on the request: if the servers belong to the same project they count as one, and only one of them can stay.
When we find a project running more than one server, we decide which of them is its main server — normally the live one its players are actually using — and that one keeps running. The others are suspended. We make that call ourselves and do not have to ask first, and we do not promise to keep a suspended server's data, so keep your own backups.
Bringing a suspended server back under another account, or requesting more servers for the project afterwards, may be treated as a serious breach under section 8. And if the "different people" behind a project turn out to be one person on alternate accounts, the rules below apply instead of this one.
Some communities and projects genuinely need more than one server, and we are happy to consider that. It is decided case by case, and asking is the only legitimate way for a project to have a second server.
Every server takes a slot that somebody else in the Discord could have had. Taking two is taking one from another member, and we treat it that way: it is a serious breach under section 8. When we find it, every Discord account and every panel account we believe belongs to the same person is terminated, every server on them is deleted, and the accounts are banned from the Discord. This happens without warning, without notice and without an opportunity to retrieve data first, and it applies to the "main" account as much as to the extra ones. We may refuse that person any further account.
We decide whether two accounts belong to the same person, or two servers to the same project, on the balance of what we can see — which includes, but is not limited to, the Discord account details we hold, the information the panel records when an account is created and used, and what the servers themselves are doing, including their names, their configuration and how they connect to one another. We do not have to prove it to anyone's satisfaction before acting.
You agree not to use AlienX Servers for:
You also agree not to share, sell or trade access to the service, and not to create or use additional accounts — with additional Discord accounts or otherwise — to get around the one-server-per-person or one-server-per-project rules in section 6 or a suspension or termination under section 8. Helping someone else do so is treated the same as doing it yourself.
Violation of these terms may result in immediate termination without warning.
Where the site says a server has "unlimited" disk, that means we do not set a fixed quota for the files the game needs to run: the game itself, its worlds and saves, its mods and plugins, its configuration and logs. It is not unlimited storage, and a server is not a file store.
You must not use a server to store anything the game does not need to run, including:
A server is not removed just for being large. Big worlds and heavily modded servers are fine, as long as what is taking up the space belongs to the game. A server that we find is being used to store unrelated files in bulk will be deleted, without warning and without an opportunity to retrieve data first. We decide whether that is what a server is being used for. Disk on this platform is shared by everyone, and one server filled with someone's files affects every other server on the same hardware.
Every server on the platform is scanned automatically for malware and for signs of the activity listed above. This applies to every server without exception. Being a long-standing member does not exempt a server from scanning, does not reduce how closely it is scanned, and does not place it in a trusted category of any kind — and it never will.
Where the scan flags a server, that server is suspended automatically. The suspension happens without human involvement and before anyone has looked at it, because leaving a suspected compromise running is the greater risk.
A suspension is reported to us privately the moment it happens, and we review flagged servers as soon as we practically can. We cannot promise a timeframe for that: this is a hobby project run by people with jobs, so a suspension may last hours or longer. Posting a new thread in the Discord Help forum helps — it does not change how quickly we get to it, but it means we have your side of it in front of us when we do.
If a review shows the flag was wrong, we lift the suspension as soon as we can. If the flag was correct, section 8 applies.
This is a free service, and we may suspend or terminate an account at any time and for any reason. What follows describes how we normally handle it, not a limit on that right.
Where a server is used for anything in section 7 that is unlawful, or that puts other people, our connection or our hardware at risk — illegal content, malware, phishing or command-and-control infrastructure, or attacks on other systems — we will suspend or terminate immediately and without warning, and may refuse that person any further account.
Holding more than one account, or more than one server, through alternate Discord accounts or someone else's account (section 6) is also a serious breach. It is handled the same way: every account we believe is the same person is terminated and banned from the Discord, every server on them is deleted, and there is no warning and no data-retrieval window. Running more than one server for the same project is not a serious breach on its own: section 6 says how it is handled.
For anything else, we will normally warn you or suspend the server first and give you a reasonable opportunity to put it right. The exception is disk space: a server being used to store unrelated files in bulk is deleted straight away, as section 7 says.
We may also stop providing the service to an account for reasons unconnected with anything you have done — capacity, hardware, the residential connection this runs on, or winding the project down (section 9).
Servers are deleted when someone leaves, is kicked from or is banned from our Discord, or loses the Server Hosting role (section 5), and when nobody has played on them for seven days. A server stays online for the whole of that window. Leaving the Discord is your own decision and we treat it as giving up your place.
Where we believe a server has been used for unlawful content — in particular child sexual abuse material or terrorist material — we will preserve the relevant data rather than simply deleting it, and report it to the appropriate authorities, which may include passing on the account and Discord details we hold. We will not attempt to review such material ourselves.
We also reserve the right to remove content that breaches these terms, and to refuse service to anyone. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights — see section 12.
This is a hobby project with no obligation to continue operating indefinitely. While there are no current plans to shut down, AlienX Servers may discontinue the service at any time, with or without notice. We'll try to give reasonable warning if possible, but no guarantees are made.
We collect minimal data required to operate the service:
We do not sell your data. Server data may be deleted at any time due to inactivity, leaving the Discord server, using a server as file storage, policy violations, or service discontinuation. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.
Scanning is automated, and a flagged server is suspended by that automated process rather than by a person. A person reviews the flag afterwards. If you believe a suspension was wrong you can ask us to look at it again, either in the Discord Help forum or using the contact details in section 13.
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Major changes will be announced in the Discord server where possible.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you have. Because the service is provided free of charge and there is nothing to buy, the consumer protections that apply to paid services — such as the remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for a service sold to you, or the cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — do not arise here. Any right that applies regardless of payment is unaffected, and where anything in these terms conflicts with a right you do have, your right takes precedence.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled something, please raise it with us first using the details in section 13. That does not stop you seeking free advice from Citizens Advice or taking the matter further.
AlienX Servers is a trading name, not a registered company. The service is operated by an individual in the United Kingdom. If you need the operator’s name and an address for service of documents — for example to make a formal complaint or to bring a claim — email us at the address below and we will provide them in writing.
General questions are best asked on Discord. Anything formal — a complaint, or a request for the operator’s details — should go to the email address above, so that there is a written record on both sides and so that you can still reach us if you are no longer in the Discord.
It’s free, it’s a hobby project, support only covers connection problems on our side (anything on your side is yours to fix), keep your own backups, don’t be a jerk, and we can shut it down or terminate accounts whenever we need to. Registration is open: join our Discord, get the Server Hosting role, register on the panel, request a server. You have to stay in our Discord to host here, and leaving it takes your server with you. One person, one Discord account, one panel account, one server — turn up with alt accounts to get more and every account you own is banned and every server deleted, no warning. It's also one server per project: a proxy network, a dev copy of your live server or the same server under a friend's name all count as a second one, however many different people you say are running them. We keep the one that's actually live and suspend the rest. Running a bigger community that really needs more than one? Ask first, show us, and if we agree they all go on one account. "Unlimited" disk means no fixed quota for the game's own files, not free cloud storage — a big server is fine, but fill it with unrelated files and it gets deleted. There is nothing to pay, no tiers and no Patreon. Every server gets scanned for malware, and a flagged one is suspended automatically until we can look at it. Use at your own risk and have fun!
