Configure your BeamMP server

Set the name, map, player cap and visibility in ServerConfig.toml, and avoid the two mistakes that stop it starting.

Updated 11 October 2026

Everything else is in ServerConfig.toml. It's TOML, so text needs quotes and numbers must not have them.

  1. Stop the server, then open ServerConfig.toml in Files.
  2. Name is what shows in the server list. MaxPlayers is the cap; be realistic, because BeamNG is heavy.
  3. Map takes a full path such as "/levels/gridmap_v2/info.json". Getting this wrong is the second most common reason a server won't start.
  4. Private = true keeps it off the public list.
  5. Description is shown to people browsing.
  6. Save and start.
