Upload an existing ARK save

Move an ARK map onto your server with the player and tribe files, so nobody loses their character or their base.

Updated 11 October 2026

ARK keeps the world, the players and the tribes in separate files. Copy the world without the rest and everyone loses their characters, so take all of it.

  1. Stop the server from the Console tab in the panel.
  2. On your PC, open ...\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\SavedArks.
  3. Take the map file (TheIsland.ark, Ragnarok.ark and so on), plus every .arkprofile and .arktribe file. The profiles are the player characters and the tribes are the shared bases.
  4. In Files, go to ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArks/ and upload them all.
  5. On the Startup tab, check the map name matches the .ark file you uploaded. If it doesn't, the server makes a fresh map and it looks like your save has vanished.
  6. Start the server. The first start on a large save is slow, so give it a few minutes before deciding it's stuck.
