By creating an account or using any server provided by AlienX Servers, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
AlienX Servers provides game server hosting as a hobby project, running on home hardware and a residential internet connection in the United Kingdom.
The service is invite only. Accounts are created for people invited by someone already hosting here; there is no public registration, no application process and no waiting list. Being able to read this page does not entitle anyone to an account.
The service is free. There is nothing to pay, nothing to subscribe to and no paid tier of any kind — no payment is required to create, run or keep a server, and no part of what a server is given is held back to encourage payment. We do not take money for this service, and these terms are not a contract for a paid service.
The service is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to:
Where the site describes servers as running "24/7" or "always on", that describes how the service behaves — the only reason we deliberately stop a server is the inactivity rule in section 8, and you are never asked to renew it or watch anything to keep it running — and is not a service level agreement or an uptime guarantee.
The service runs on home hardware and a residential internet connection. Your server may be restarted, suspended or taken offline at any time and without notice, including for:
We are under no obligation to give notice of, schedule around, or compensate for any of the above.
AlienX Servers and its operator(s) are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to:
You use this service entirely at your own risk. Always keep your own backups of any data you care about.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
This is a free service with no technical support. You are responsible for:
Other members may choose to help each other in the Discord. That is them being generous and is not a support channel; treating it as one, or pressing people for help after being told the service has none, is a breach of section 7.
Hosting is offered to members of our Discord server, AlienX's Place, who have been invited to host. By using the service you agree that:
The requirement exists because accounts that were not tied to an identity were being used to host malware and proxy software, and to evade bans. Invitation was added on top of it after sustained denial-of-service attacks against the residential connection this service runs on, which affect the household behind it rather than only the service.
Rejoining the Discord does not restore access, and does not restore a deleted server. An account that has lapsed needs a fresh invitation, and there is no obligation on us to give one. We may consider former members case by case; repeatedly asking, or pressing anyone here for an invitation, is itself grounds to refuse permanently.
Each user is limited to one server at a time, unless an exception has been agreed with us. Attempting to circumvent your limit (e.g., creating multiple accounts, or using additional Discord accounts) may result in termination of all associated accounts.
You agree not to use AlienX Servers for:
You also agree not to share, sell or trade access to the service, and not to pass an invitation to anyone you would not vouch for. An invitation is traceable to the person who gave it, and abuse is treated as a matter for both accounts.
Violation of these terms may result in immediate termination without warning.
Every server on the platform is scanned automatically for malware and for signs of the activity listed above. This applies to every server without exception. Being an invited member, or a long-standing one, does not exempt a server from scanning, does not reduce how closely it is scanned, and does not place it in a trusted category of any kind — and it never will.
Where the scan flags a server, that server is suspended automatically. The suspension happens without human involvement and before anyone has looked at it, because leaving a suspected compromise running is the greater risk.
A suspension is reported to us privately the moment it happens, and we review flagged servers as soon as we practically can. We cannot promise a timeframe for that: this is a hobby project run by people with jobs, so a suspension may last hours or longer. Posting a new thread in the Discord Help forum helps — it does not change how quickly we get to it, but it means we have your side of it in front of us when we do.
If a review shows the flag was wrong, we lift the suspension as soon as we can. If the flag was correct, section 8 applies.
This is a free service, and we may suspend or terminate an account at any time and for any reason. What follows describes how we normally handle it, not a limit on that right.
Where a server is used for anything in section 7 that is unlawful, or that puts other people, our connection or our hardware at risk — illegal content, malware, phishing or command-and-control infrastructure, or attacks on other systems — we will suspend or terminate immediately and without warning, and will not re-invite the account.
For anything else, we will normally warn you or suspend the server first and give you a reasonable opportunity to put it right.
We may also stop providing the service to an account for reasons unconnected with anything you have done — capacity, hardware, the residential connection this runs on, or winding the project down (section 9).
Servers are deleted when someone leaves, is kicked from or is banned from our Discord, or loses the Server Hosting role (section 5), and when nobody has played on them for seven days. A server stays online for the whole of that window. Leaving the Discord is your own decision and we treat it as giving up your place.
Where we believe a server has been used for unlawful content — in particular child sexual abuse material or terrorist material — we will preserve the relevant data rather than simply deleting it, and report it to the appropriate authorities, which may include passing on the account and Discord details we hold. We will not attempt to review such material ourselves.
We also reserve the right to remove content that breaches these terms, and to refuse service to anyone. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights — see section 12.
This is a hobby project with no obligation to continue operating indefinitely. While there are no current plans to shut down, AlienX Servers may discontinue the service at any time, with or without notice. We'll try to give reasonable warning if possible, but no guarantees are made.
We collect minimal data required to operate the service:
We do not sell your data. Server data may be deleted at any time due to inactivity, leaving the Discord server, policy violations, or service discontinuation. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.
Scanning is automated, and a flagged server is suspended by that automated process rather than by a person. A person reviews the flag afterwards. If you believe a suspension was wrong you can ask us to look at it again, either in the Discord Help forum or using the contact details in section 13.
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Major changes will be announced in the Discord server where possible.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you have. Because the service is provided free of charge and there is nothing to buy, the consumer protections that apply to paid services — such as the remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 for a service sold to you, or the cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — do not arise here. Any right that applies regardless of payment is unaffected, and where anything in these terms conflicts with a right you do have, your right takes precedence.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled something, please raise it with us first using the details in section 13. That does not stop you seeking free advice from Citizens Advice or taking the matter further.
AlienX Servers is a trading name, not a registered company. The service is operated by an individual in the United Kingdom. If you need the operator’s name and an address for service of documents — for example to make a formal complaint or to bring a claim — email us at the address below and we will provide them in writing.
General questions are best asked on Discord. Anything formal — a complaint, or a request for the operator’s details — should go to the email address above, so that there is a written record on both sides and so that you can still reach us if you are no longer in the Discord. Requests for an invitation are not answered at either address.
It’s free, it’s a hobby project, there’s no support, keep your own backups, don’t be a jerk, and we can shut it down or terminate accounts whenever we need to. Hosting is invite only — you cannot sign up, and asking around for an invite is the fastest way to make sure you never get one. You have to be in our Discord to host here, and leaving it takes your server with you. There is nothing to pay and no Patreon any more. Every server gets scanned for malware, and a flagged one is suspended automatically until we can look at it. Use at your own risk and have fun!
