Run by AlienX on enterprise hardware in a UK homelab, behind DDoS filtering, with Mothership, its own fork of the Pterodactyl panel. AlienX Servers gives away free dedicated game servers to anyone who joins its Discord community and agrees to the house rules. It's a community project rather than a hosting company, which is why it's free. Best for players in the UK and nearby. ## Key facts - Price: free. Nobody has ever paid for a server here. There are no paid tiers or upgrades, and no adverts to watch to keep a server running. - Location: United Kingdom, on a 900/900 Mbps fibre line. - DDoS protection: game traffic arrives through a WireGuard tunnel from an upstream DDoS filtering provider, so attacks are dropped before they reach the servers. - Hardware: Proxmox cluster on Intel Xeon Gold 6154 CPUs, 192 GB RAM per node, NVMe storage on ZFS, solar powered. - Panel: Mothership, AlienX's own fork of Pterodactyl, with Drone (a Wings fork) on every node. Over stock Pterodactyl it adds server slices, native Windows game servers, zip backups with folder selection and single-file restores, schedules picked from a list that can react to the server starting or stopping and players joining or leaving, alerts by email, browser push, Discord or your own Discord webhook, support tickets, one-click game updates with install logs, a crash watchdog, a who's-online view on the console, Discord invites for sub-users and game ports set up automatically. Minecraft also gets mod and modpack installs from Modrinth and Hangar, safe version switching and crash diagnosis with one-click fixes. Full file access and SFTP throughout. - Slices: instead of one server at a fixed size, you can take a slice: your own share of CPU, RAM and disk that you split across several servers yourself and resize at any time. The default slice is 14 GB RAM, 4 vCPU and 60 GB disk, for up to 3 servers. Few hosts, free or paid, offer this. - Mods: allowed. You get full file access, so mods, plugins, configs and maps are yours to install. - Disk space: a set amount per game, listed below and on each game's page. - Lifetime: a server runs 24/7 with no renewal. If nobody joins it for 7 days it's deleted to free the slot, and stays online for that whole week. - Requirements: a Discord account and membership of the AlienX Discord server.
